A statement jacket

(via brownsfashion.co.uk)
Regarding my style, special jackets are indispensable ingredients. My uniform usually consists of a pair of casual jeans and boots, a simple top and a delicate statement jacket. These collages demonstrate how I would wear this incredible jacket from Dries van Noten. It is rather wonderful, isn't it?

The Row t-shirt, Current/Elliott jeans, The Kooples boots, SC for Louis Vuitton clutch, Cartier watch, Ray-Ban sunglasses.

Thakoon trousers, Equipment shirt, Repetto boots, Balenciaga bag, Chanel rouge noir lipstick.

  1. Beautiful Fleurette.. Thank you for your thoughtful posts. This is a lovely look.

I though of you two days ago while purchasing my first Isabel Marant jacket from her NYC store. It is inspiring me to re-configure my entire wardrobe!

  2. I love the idea of a simple outfit with a special jacket.. I loved your last post as well, I posted that quote about 3 times on my tumblr without realising it..
Just a question about your balenciaga bag, do you think it has lasted well? does it bother you that there are a lot of balenciaga copies..I'm thinking of getting the day bag in black and i was wondering if yours has lived up to your expectations

  3. That's a statement jacket that could rev up any simple ensemble, as shown here. I'd wear it with The Row tee and Thakoon trousers, on a regular basis.

  4. I would wear either of these in an instant. Perfection!

  5. It's a lovely jacket, with a nice feminine touch to the more boyish pieces.

  6. Ah...Dries. Lovely outfits. I wish I could make jackets part of my everyday life but that's just wishful thinking when you live in the tropics. I love a contrast trim jacket - I used to dream of a classic Chanel tweed cardigan/jacket along these lines, but unless I move somewhere colder, I'm content to let that stay a dream. All you girls with the gorgeous boucle Marant jackets are so lucky!

  7. I've loved this jacket ever since I first saw it on the runway! Its a lovely piece, great with both jeans, trousers, bright and neutral dresses. I would probably wear it instead of a cardigan or my leather jacket... I agree with lin; the similarity to the classic Chanel bucle jacket is striking!

  8. It is a nice jacket, although to me, it is one that women in their teens/20s can wear with ease and then again in their 50s-90s, but if I wore it, I think it would age me. Certain pieces are tricky for women in their 30s...

  9. OK, kind of in a state of shock right now! I found the Isabel Marant Lacow booties in taupe (!!) for a lovely price. I've heard that they run small, I'm usually a size 38 - would you recommend buying a size bigger or go with my regular size?

  10. oh, and are they comfortable?

  11. Well you already know how much I rely on statement jackets! This is probably why I dislike dressing in warmer weather - at least when it's cold a nice jacket will solve any outfit dilemma.

I would love to own a Dries jacket but they are rare in the discount shops/sites I frequent, and I'd they do pop up once in a blue moon it is usually a big size.

    I hope you're enjoying Barcelona!

  16. Nice stuff you have picked in these pics, I could take everything, but mostly the Sofia Coppola Clutch for LV - it's just perfection!

  17. Amazing statement jacket. I love Dries van Noten. I love the collages. The Cartier watch is so wonderful!

  18. Ahhh, you should've been in Belgium during the outlet sales. Dries van Noten had an absolutely GIGANTIC hangar, stocked to the brim with clothes from past collections. Blouses, trousers, jackets, dresses - everything was there and for an extremely reasonable price (e.g. €45-75 for a jumper, 150 for a dress...)

  21. Thanks for the lovely comments :D

Anonymous: Congrats! Show me your new jacket, I'd love to see it.

Alex: I haven't worn my Balenciaga in a very long time now because I carry so much nowadays (school). But I still love it even though I'm the kind of person who doesn't like when the leather gets softer. I know there are lots of copies, but it doesn't bother me because I seldom see the copies (or maybe because they're good copies?). If I spot someone with a fake, the rest of the outfit probably revealed it, haha. One thing I'm don't like is that the tassels split after 1/2 year or something, even though you take good care of the tassels.

lin: Agree! Well, we need to find a cross between tropics and atlantis. I can only wear those lovely chanel-ish jackets during the 2-3 months of spring and fall. :(

TJP: I've never thought of that, but I believe you!

koko: it depends on how cold it is. Well, here in Norway, it is way too cold to wear statement jackets like this one.

heleen: Oh, the clothes from the past collections are the best!! I wish I were there!

Anonymous: Thank you very much for the kind words. Welcome to my blog, by the way! I love new readers!
